Wayfarer Sunglasses

Another classic design by Ray-Ban. First developed in 1956 and was the first pair of sunglasses not to be made of metal and took advantage of the advances in plastic moulding technology. Although they've had several slumps in sales throughout their lifespan they still remain today as one of the most stylish pairs of sunglasses on the market and are enjoying a renaissance of sorts with all the modern twists on this classic design from companies such as Maui Jim and Dirty Dog. Today a lot of these design choices remain, although the frames have been brought up to date technologically with changes in material of the frames and slight design tweaks. Designs such as Dirty Dog's Vendetta and Maui Jim's Aloha Friday show the range of different styles that are possible within the Wayfarer's design spec, and of course there is the classic Oakley Frogskin that are very much in the traditional mould of Wayfarer design. Either way, Wayfarer's still remain as one of the most popular designs of sunglasses today.
